UK Technology4Good Awards
These exciting new Awards celebrate the hard work of the many charities, businesses and individuals across the UK who use digital technologies to help change our communities for the better. We are delighted to be working with BT and our other partners and we hope that sharing the stories of our winners will inspire other people to do good things in their own community.

These unique awards are organised by AbilityNet and BT and bring together a range of charities and businesses whose work enables people to improve their lives through the use of IT. It is open to UK-based charities, businesses, public bodies, individuals, social enterprises, community organisations, although there may be specific requirements in some Awards.
Nominations are now closed and shortlists are being prepared. The finalists will be announced on Friday 20 May 2011 and the winners will be revealed at an Awards Ceremony in London on 7 June 2011.
Accessibility Award
Sponsored by Microsoft in association with AbilityNet
We are looking for inspiring stories of how computers, assistive technology and the internet have been used to change the lives of people with disabilities by enabling them to participate fully in work or any other aspect of their life. Read more about the Accessibility Award
BT Contact Us Award
We are looking for an organisation that has thought about its contact strategy and put options in place so customers can choose how they make contact. For example, it will provide direct contact for its deaf customers without reliance on text relay and will be able to demonstrate that it has considered the needs of its disabled customers and made improvements to enhance the customer experience as a result. Community Impact Award

We’re looking for community-based ideas and activities that deliver high impact in the community and are changing lives for the better. The best entries will be working closely with a range of partners and individuals using ideas that can be shared in other communities. Read more about the Community Impact Award

How is the internet and new forms of media giving a voice to people who are not normally heard? The winner of this Award will be using a websites, video, audio or any other medium to share stories from and about their communities in an accessible way. Read more about the Community Voices Award

The winner of this award will be developing an innovative technical solution to a clearly identified community need, using the internet, mobile phone or other technologies to bring good to the community. Read more about the Innovation Award
IT Volunteer of the Year Award

Thousands of charities rely on volunteers for all sorts of high quality use of computers and the internet, including technical support, web design, producing videos and many other forms of IT. AbilityNet Accessibility Excellence Award
This special award will given by AbilityNet to an individual or organisation which has shown an outstanding commitment to the use of IT to transform the lives of people with disabilities.
